Analysis on the Survey of Users' Demands of Makerspace Constructed by University Libraries

[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to analyze the users' demands and preferences of the university library makerspace in order to provide a practical basis for the makerspace service of university libraries and raise the pertinence and effectiveness of services. [Method/process] Based on the methods of the questionnaire survey and the statistical analysis, the paper analyzed the users' demands and preferences about the university library's makerspace through designing survey indicators. The authors also constructed the service model for the university library makerspace from the perspective of users' demands by using the physical platform, the virtual platform and projects as the main categories. [Result/conclusion] Constructing makerspace is an important opportunity for innovating the service function and reshaping roles of university libraries in the new situation. Based on the understanding of the users' demands, university libraries should make the optimal decisions in accordance with users' requirements by following the service model of makerspace.
