[Purpose/significance] Research data sharing platform is an important platform to realize research data management. This paper discovers the four foreign typical research data sharing platforms which are based on open source software, sorting out their characteristics and operational experiences from the technology, content, function,application and other aspects, so as to provide useful experience for the construction of research data platform and scientific data management.[Method/process] This paper analyzes in details the four scientific data sharing platforms abroad, which are based on the Fedora and Dataverse system, including Stanford Digital Repository, Data Conservancy, Odum Institute Archive Dataverse, Harvard Dataverse, in terms of technology, features and elements.[Result/conclusion] The results show that four repositories present different features and elements with the similar software technology, but they are all with the purpose of open data. Finally some suggestions are put forward for designing scientific data sharing platform in China, including considering the institutional policy, users and resources, cooperative partner, education and training.
