[Purpose/significance] Considering the defects of the current research subject evaluation, this paper improves h-index to make the evaluation of research subjects more fair and equitable.[Method/process] Based on the h-index, Q-index was proposed by considering the time factor creatively. We randomly selected four scholars in the field of mathematical science to verify the practicality and reliability of the Q-index by calculating the Q-index of four scholars. [Result/conclusion] The results show that the Q-index changing process can reflect the development trend of research subjects. Therefore, the Q-index can serve as the basis for hiring teachers or evaluating the title. In addition, it can guide researchers towards a healthy and scientific direction.
