[Purpose/significance] Libraries are positively participating in the preservation, arrangement and organization of local historical resources, which mainly are local historical property contracts. As a result, metadata schemes are designed by different libraries and for diverse application purposes as well, leading to the lack of authorized standard and interoperability, and are not enough linked as well. The metadata application profile for local historical property contracts in this paper brings a solution for resource organization and interoperationality.[Method/process] The functions of descriptive metadata in the organization of local historical property contracts were summarized and the design principles were analyzed. The design process and method were discussed.[Result/conclusion] Established metadata schemes are reused, combined with specific characteristics and user demands of the local historical property contracts, to form an applicable metadata schemes. Based on the application in SJTUL, the way and focal points of applying metadata schemes to practice are introduced at last.
