[Purpose/significance] To examine the concept and function of visualization, analyze the visualization requirements in information service practices, sort out the typical use cases of visualization in information service, summarize and evaluate the relationship between information service and visualization.[Method/process] Examining visualization from process perspective.Discussing functions of visualization from the perspective of cognitive, language and technology. Examining visualization needs in the practices like activities, industry, management and development of information service based on two kinds of requirement analysis framework. Analyzing relationship between information services and visualization with ecological thinking.[Result/conclusion] Visualization technology provides an opportunity for the current information service upgrade. There are definite demands of visual application in the specific information service practice. There are supply-demand & symbiotic relations between information service and visualization.
