Abstract

[Purpose/significance]Each industry is closely related to the environment, and there is no exception for library. This paper aims to analyze and interpret the research status and practice progress in the field of green library abroad, and it will provide insight into sustainability of library in the future. The output of this paper could be a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners interested in green library.[Method/process] The literature review is conducted by using content analysis along with case interpretation from the perspective of theory combined with practice. The collected documents are systematically summarized and integrated into interrelated topics.[Result/conclusion] The interrelated topics are grouped into six aspects:connotation and core features of green library, green library building and internal decoration, green library collection and information system, energy management and low-carbon services, environmental auditing, and evaluation standards and policies of green library. In addition, this paper proposes four directions for future research, including influencing factors and theoretical models, energy consumption calculation and environmental audit, management policies and evaluation criteria, and institutional coordination and cooperation mechanism.
