[Purpose/significance] Selecting the UKDA and ICPSR as the research objects and analyzing its data management functions, this paper aims to provide some suggestions for the Construction of China's social science data repository.[Method/process] This paper investigates the current condition of social science data repository of Britain and America from data collection,data organization,data retrieval,data utilization, analyzing and comparing their data management functions.[Result/conclusion] We could strengthen the construction of social science data repository from the following points:broaden the way to collect data, and close cooperation with government agencies; set the specific category of data storage, and clear the specific requirements; provide a variety of search strategies and refine the screening options of search results; provide data usage guidance for users in a variety of ways and clear the requirement of data citation.
