Abstract

[Purpose/significance] The semantic web is the web of data, which provides a uniform framework of allowing data sharing and reuse. Data from different sources are described in the uniform format and linked with the outside world in order to achieve data integrated applications across organizations and platforms. In this context, the cataloging environment is changing with associated bibliographic resources and RDA's advent, which makes bibliographic data from closed to open. Authority files can be added to catalog records by achieving consistency purposes. Thus, it will aggregate catalogs and improve the retrieval efficiency. The analysis of the development of researches and practices in the name authority file at home and abroad provides meaningful references for Chinese name authority files.[Method/process] The paper discussed the problems of the construction of Chinese name authority files and has analyzed the development of researches and practices in the name authority file at home and abroad focusing on the development direction of the construction of Chinese name authority files.[Result/conclusion] There are some issues such as small data size, poor data integrity, low data-sharing in the Chinese authority files. From the development of foreign authority files perspective, it is no longer confined within the library and develops to cooperate and share with the outside. It is no longer facing the OPAC system but develops to the open linked Internet. Therefore, the construction of Chinese name authority files can be obtained from sharing files, building a new model and rules, and improving the quality, which plays a role in standardizing and controlling the Chinese name authority files in the network environment.
