Abstract

[Purpose/significance]This paper aims to study how to find the relative paper from large numbers of papers and study on the topic innovation of the paper. It may help researcher to read and use those papers. [Method/process]First, the paper defined the concept of the topic innovation and the self-citation network. And then the paper brought out the research idea, the tools and the method. At last the paper studied the Indiana University's innovation in the library and information science. [Result/conclusion]The result shows that the main path method can help to find these papers according to citation relationship from the self-citation network and analyze the topic innovation based on the result.
