[Purpose/significance] The purpose of this research is focusing on the construction of the special resources database of academic libraries in minority regions. The achievements, characteristics and shortcomings of these special resources database are presented objectively ever since the tenth five-year plan of China. The results will provide the research foundation and feasibility path for construction of the special resources database, as well as offering the service of the national strategies and the regional development in this research field.[Method/process] Based on literature and web survey, the special resource databases of 47 academic libraries in minority region are investigated.[Result/conclusion] At present, attention is paid to preserving and protecting the special collections in academic libraries in minority region, and the digitalization of entity literature based on the collection is routinely carried out. However, the availability and service ability are poor, and level of the database possesses large gap. Most of the work is only in the digital stage, accurate knowledge service is not provided, and the construction of the special resource database is still on their own way. As a result, there exists much deficiency in resource integration and sharing. According to above analysis, this paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions.
