[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to explore the main strategy of building smart library, and answer the questions:what is the smart library, and what is the style of it? We should solve some obscure theoretical and practical problems so as to broaden our horizons.[Method/process] The literature survey and field research are combined to comb and analyze the development course from the digital library to the intelligent library, and it points out the misunderstanding of the construction of the intelligent library, and gives the strategies for the construction.[Result/conclusion] It gives five strategies of intelligent library construction:overall objective analysis and design; from data to big data; multivariate data integration; coordination and step by step; innovation environment construction.
