Reader Data Curation and Value-added in University Libraries: A Case Study of the 2017 Peking University Reading Report

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] The paper put forward the reader data utilization framework to guide the library to systematically collect, organize, save and mine reader data more systematically and realize its value-added utilization.[Method/process] The paper introduced data curation and data lifecycle-based data service development concepts, and built a lifecycle-based reader data curation framework. Based on this framework, the paper took the practice of the 2017 Peking University Reading Report as an example, curating for libraries and readers.[Result/conclusion] Through the curation of reader data, on the one hand, it helps the library to clarify the readers' access and borrowing rules, core reader groups, resource utilization, and rationally optimize various resources and services. On the other hand, by recommending reading resources and services to readers, readers can improve their reading quality and make full use of libraries. It provides a useful reference for the standardized and in-depth development of reader data curation and value-added utilization.
