[Purpose/significance] With the increasing complexity of the publishing environment, scholarly publishing literacy has gradually become a new growth point of information literacy education in university libraries. This paper investigates and analyzes the situation and characteristics of scholarly publishing literacy courses in foreign university libraries, so as to provide references for the construction of scholarly publishing literacy courses in Chinese libraries.[Method/process] By the methods of network survey and literature survey, this paper selected 16 representative scholarly publishing literacy courses of foreign university libraries. Then it analyzed practical scholarly publishing literacy courses progress and characteristics from five aspects:the teaching content, form, atmosphere, team and evaluation.[Result/conclusion] Foreign university libraries have actively participated in the scholarly publishing literacy courses. The research cases show the rich tea, the diverse teaching forms, the active teaching atmosphere, the cooperative teaching team, and the sustainable teaching evaluation. Chinese libraries should fully learn from the experience of foreign university libraries in scholarly publishing literacy education and timely carry out scholarly publishing literacy courses.
