[Purpose/significance] The lack of writing ability of college students is a common phenomenon. Writing service provided by university libraries is an important means to improve the writing quality of college students. The development of embedded writing counseling service plays an important role in promoting the improvement of students' writing ability.[Method/process] This paper discussed the basic mode of library embedded writing guidance service, and studied the specific object, form, content and effect evaluation method of embedded service. Then taking the library service practice of Southwest Jiaotong University as an example, this paper analyzed the experiences, problems and improvement measures.[Result/conclusion] The universities should select appropriate embedded methods and modes according to the specific situation of the university, combine the characteristics of the discipline and the specific curriculum requirements, and strengthen the construction of long-term mechanism.
