From Open Access to Open Science:The Theme, Content Evolution and Enlightenment of Open Access Week

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] This paper investigates the themes and contents of Open Access Week (OA Week) activities at home and abroad over the years, in order to summarize the focus of OA Week and the development of open access, and to propose the enlightenment and suggestions for promoting open access in China. [Method/process] Using the online survey method, this paper investigated the international Open Access Week Website and the OA Week event Websites of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, Japan and China, and summarized the themes, contents and forms of the OA Week events. [Result/conclusion] The development of open access is from concept discussion to practical action, from open access to open science, from green road to golden road, and from decentralized action to global joint. In promoting open access, we should pay attention to human factors; enrich the content of activities and promotion forms; grasp the development trend of open science and strengthen infrastructure construction; promote the role of professional institutions and participate in global joint actions.
