Abstract

[Purpose/significance] Aimed at the relatively weak competitiveness, as well as the inability to meet the needs of economic and social development under technology evolution, it is necessary for the library and information science and archives management discipline to carry out branding process. The development of discipline as well as its internal cohesion can be promoted by the branding process, where its position will be identified, its advantages and values will be dug out, and its popularity and attractiveness will be increased. [Method/process] Based on the theory of brand management, this paper discussed the value and significance of branding process to the development of library and information science and archives management discipline. Additionally, this paper proposed a brand framework of the discipline to deal with its development problems. [Result/conclusion] The proposed framework summarizes and refines the core elements, main participants, and major breakthroughs of discipline branding, so as to provide a reference for the development of the library and information science and archives management discipline.
