[Purpose/significance] To provide basis and reference for Chinese small data in library research, the paper systematically summarized the research progress and proposed some issues worthy of further study. [Method/process] First, twenty-seven papers that relevant to small data in library were retrieved from CNKI database from January 2015 to September 2019. Second, using content analysis method, 6 aspects as small data theory, library small data theory, opportunities and challenges of small data, service mode, service model and application strategy were systematically analyzed and reviewed. [Result/conclusion] The present research characteristics of small data research in library in Mainland China included higher sensitivity on the development of small data and the application of small data in library, increasing attention, still few core authors and core teams, more concentration of main research body and value theory than practice. And the future study on small data in library should enhance:(1) harmony of theory and practice; (2) assessment of small data in library; (3) exchange and cooperation of small data in library.
