A Comparative Study of Scholarly Publishing Literacy Education Between Chinese and American University Libraries

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] With the increasingly complex scholarly publishing and communication mechanisms,scholarly publishing literacy has become an indispensable skill for researchers.The scholarly publishing literacy education of American university libraries is at the forefront of the world, which can provide China guidance for scholarly publishing literacy education. [Method/process] This paper selected the top 10 university libraries in the United States and 40 Double First-Class university libraries in China as the survey objects,and investigated the scholarly publishing literacy education practice carried out by these libraries.This paper compared and analyzed the similarities and differences of scholarly publishing literacy education between the two countries from two aspects:education form and education content. [Result/conclusion] The enlightenment to academic publishing literacy education of University Library in China is:deepening education cooperation, promoting the continuous improvement of academic publishing literacy education; selecting appropriate education forms, taking into account the system and pertinence of education; building a comprehensive education content system in accordance with the needs of academic publishing.
