[Purpose/significance] In the face of the fifth round of discipline evaluation, "new liberal arts" construction, iSchool movement and other disciplines development environment changes at home and abroad, library discipline construction is facing new opportunities and challenges. The research returns to the fundamental of Library Science, and puts forward that Library Science needs to be fixed and innovated. At the same time, it should be coordinated with the construction of first-class discipline of Library Information and Archives Management, so as to provide enlightenment for the long-term development of library science education and first-class discipline construction in China. [Method/process] Based on the analysis of the origin of Library Science, the collaborative development of Library Science education and first-level discipline, this paper discussed the new situation of Library Science discipline construction and Library Information and Archives Management first-level discipline construction in China. [Result/conclusion] This paper puts forward the three fundamentals of Library Science, emphasizes that the construction of library science should be based on solid foundation and innovation, carries out the construction of Library Science with the view of collaborative construction, and puts forward that the construction of library science should have the development view of strategy, collaboration and high quality.
