[Purpose/significance] Under the background of comprehensive data-based scientific research and the 14th five-year plan, the direction and path of university library construction have a significant impact on teaching and scientific research. The purpose of this research is to propose the next step in the implementation and practice of the library's intelligent transformation. [Method/process] This paper sorted out the development status of university libraries and analyzed new development trends. Taking data as the starting point, tried to construct a development plan for smart libraries in terms of technology, services and space. [Result/conclusion] The construction of smart libraries should focus on smart equipment, smart service platforms and smart spaces. In addition, we need to think deeply about the role of librarians and alliance building.
