Progress of Library and Information Science and Archival Science During the 13th Five-year Plan: Analysis of the Articles in Foreign Journals

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] The research on the international publication, research hotspots and periodical characteristics of the Library and Information Science is helpful to promote the development of the subject and enhance its international discourse power. [Method/process] In this paper, we analyzed the key words frequency of papers published in high-impact foreign journals included by SCI and SSCI, and used HistCite, CiteSpace, SPSS and other tools to analyze the development of the chart in the past five years (2016-2020) from five aspects including current research status, high-impact scholars, highly cited papers, research hotspots, and cutting-edge trends. Through the annual change analysis of high-frequency keywords, four keywords with different trends were summarized, and the low-frequency keywords are perspectived. The development themes of humanity, technology and management were obtained. [Result/conclusion] With the continuous development of information technology and changes in the information environment, the themes of the Library and Information Science have been further extended and refined from traditional information services to knowledge services, and from research related to knowledge organization and management to the construction of knowledge organization systems, and the combination of theory and practice has become an important trend in the research of Library and Information Science.
