[Purpose/significance] The integration of the architectural space of the library and the natural and cultural environment can effectively promote reading. Research on the natural and humanistic environment of libraries nominated or awarded by the IFLA "IFLA/Systematic Annual Public Library Award" and libraries that have won the "AIA/ALA Library Architectural Design Award" in the United States can provide reference for our country’s libraries in reflecting the natural and humanistic environment in the architectural space of the old library’s expanding and the construction of the new library. [Method/process] The paper used network survey method and case study method to summarize and analyze some of the libraries that have a better natural and human environment in the interior and exterior spaces of the award-winning libraries, and summarized the relevant practical experience in the construction of these library spaces. [Result/conclusion] To promote the integrated development of the two requires innovative design concepts and stronger theoretical support, and at the same time should guide the library to make full use of the surrounding environment of the premises, further explore the regional culture, and optimally combine spatial factors that promote reading.
