Abstract

[Purpose/significance] By analyzing the effects of interaction mode and gender difference on the emotional experience and usability of tourists using mobile AR travel applications products, this paper provides the guidelines for travel augmented reality application design optimization.[Method/process] Combined outdoor experimental research with qualitative interview, tourists were invited to complete the object selection task by three common interaction mode:touch-based interaction, mid-air gestures-based interaction and device-based interaction. Investigating the male and female participants' usability evaluation and PAD emotional experience.[Result/conclusion] In mobile AR devices, interaction mode has a significant impact on usability and emotional experience. Touch-based Interaction has the best usability experience, and it elicits strongest pleasure and dominance emotions. Mid-air gestures-based interaction exhibited the highest degree of arousal. Touch interaction is more suitable for tourists' usability and emotional experience needs. There is no significant gender difference between male and female tourists in the usability and emotional experience level.
