The Practice of Courses for Ideological and Political Education in the Discipline of Library, Information and Archives Management: Taking Peking University as an Example

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] This paper discusses the thoughts and practices of ideological and political education construction in the discipline of library, information and archives management with the example from the Department of Information Management of Peking University. [Method/process] The Department of Information Management of Peking University adhered to the "four unifications", carried out the top-level design that divides courses into four categories of traditional courses, foundation courses, interdisciplinary courses and practical courses, and carried out the construction of ideological and political cases from point to point. [Result/conclusion] The nature of interdisciplinarity and strong applicability of library, information and archives management bring unique opportunities and requirements to the courses for ideological and political education. Yet, the construction of ideological and political education also needs to constantly summarize and continue to improve these works.
