An Empirical Study on Influencing Factors of the Value of University Patent Technology Transfer and Transformation:Based on the Patent Transfer and Transformation Data from 11 First-Class Universities

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] This paper conducts an empirical study on the influencing factors of the value of university patent technology transfer and transformation, which can help technology transfer personnel to form a more objective understanding of the patent technology transfer and transformation value, improve transaction efficiency of patents, and promote transfer and transformation of patent technology achievements of universities. [Method/Process] Based on the patent transfer and transformation data from 11 first-class universities in China, this study designed explanatory variables from four levels of law, technology, market and form of transfer and transformation, and used multiple linear regression to study the influencing factors of the value of university patent technology transfer and transformation. [Result/Conclusion] The effect of the transfer and transformation mode on value of university patent transfer and transformation is significantly stronger than the factors of technology, market and law. The number of homologous patents, inventors and document pages have a significantly positive impact on the value of university patent technology transfer and transformation, but the number of applicants has a significantly negative impact on the value of university patent technology transfer and transformation. And the significance of the regression coefficients of these four variables is not affected by the factors of market and transfer and transformation mode, which is a more stable indicator to evaluate the value of transfer and transformation of university patent technology. For patents with different transfer and transformation types, pricing forms and combination trading methods, the influencing factors of the conversion amount are quite different. The reliability of evaluating the value of university patent technology transfer and transformation from the four levels of law, technology, market and form of transfer and transformation is increasing year by year.
