Finding the Ancient Evidence of Modern Spiritual Civilization: From the Perspective of Jixia Digital Humanities

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] The construction of spiritual civilization is the internal driving force for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. This paper puts forward the use of digital technology to trace the ancient evidence of modern spiritual civilization, trying to explore the reliable historical basis of China's spiritual and cultural construction and establish a firm cultural self-confidence.[Method/Process] Taking Jixia culture as an example, this paper collected modern journal papers and ancient history books, using machine learning and natural language processing technology to build a comparative mapping framework of ancient and modern thought and culture. Through the feature representation, topic clustering and thought aggregation of ancient and modern texts, the reference between classical thought and modern civilization was realized, and the in-depth analysis was carried out from five aspects:governance, economics, law, education and ecological environment.[Result/Conclusion] The analysis shows that modern spiritual civilization and classical cultural consciousness are both interlinked and different. Modern filial piety and the rule of virtue are reflected in Jixia's thought. The quality education and ideological education in the modern education system can trace back to the trace of moral education in the classical spirit. Ancient and modern legal system construction tends to be the same in concept, but there are differences in form. Different economic construction systems also reflect differences in ecological construction. The design and implementation of this study preliminarily show the feasibility of modern digital technology for mapping the comparison between ancient and modern ideas, and provide new ideas for the spiritual thought mining in digital humanities, especially it is of great practical significance to pursue the historical basis of China's modern civilization construction.
