Foreign Open Access Librarians: Job Placement, Core Roles and Training Strategy in China

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] It compares and analyzes of the job placement and core role of foreign open access librarians. And it puts forward the talent training strategy of open access librarians in China.[Method/Process] The study used the literature survey method, the network survey method and the content analysis method to investigate the job settings of open access librarians in 21 libraries, and analyzed their core roles from open access service managers, open access organizers, scientific community supporters, and open knowledge training educators.[Result/Conclusion] The paper puts forward the training strategies for open access librarians in China from two aspects:formulating the ability training system for open access librarians, creating an open access service environment, and cultivating the open access literacy of the scientific community based on the open science evaluation system, which will provide theoretical and practical enlightenment for the career development of open access librarians in China.
