[Purpose/Significance] National reading has entered a new stage of in-depth promotion. "Reading in a new era, forging ahead in a new journey",It is an important task for the library to promote the national reading. [Method/Process] This paper summarized the development and practice of the current national reading work, summarized the shortcomings in the development of the national reading, and pondered on the top-level design and library work strategy of how to promote the national reading in the new stage. [Result/Conclusion] In the new stage of reading promotion, we should face problems and challenges directly, and the government should lead the promotion of top-level design in the legal level, governance mechanism, facility construction and overall digitalization; Libraries should seek new models, create new methods, show new achievements, scientifically promote reading promotion, and be good practitioners and powerful promoters of national reading.
