[Purpose/Significance] Reading promotion is an important basic work of library. However, the effect and persistence of the promotion have been perplexing librarians. University libraries should make use of the advantages of university teaching. The research and practice of the transformation of reading promotion is helpful to change the status of weak reading promotion and unsatisfactory results.[Method/Process] This paper analyzed the reasons and directions of the transformation of reading promotion in university libraries, put forward the path selection of the transformation of reading promotion, such as the first class, the second class and remodeling of library activities, and discussed in detail the practice of reading promotion relying on the first class by taking the "Civilized Classics"course of Chongqing University as an example.[Result/Conclusion] Through in-depth analysis of the reading data related to the course, and summarizing the effectiveness and deficiencies of practice, the results show that the first class is one of the effective ways to promote the transformation of reading promotionin university libraries.
