[Purpose/Significance] The article analyzes the situation of name changes of Chinese and American information science, so as to provide suggestions and thoughts on the development of information science in China.[Method/Process] Summarize the development of name changes of Chinese and American information science from four perspectives of intelligence agencies, intelligence associations, intelligence disciplines, and intelligence education institutions.[Result/Conclusion] The four characteristics of the name change event between Chinese and American information science are summarized:originating from the practice of intelligence work, information science informatization, information science technology, and information science education. Suggestions for the development of domestic intelligence science are presented from professional practice, information science technicalization, information science education. Some references for the future development of information science are provided from the perspective of information resources management.
