[Purpose/Significance] Analyzing the complex causal mechanism of multiple factors affecting the operational efficiency of public reading space can provide reference for improving the operational efficiency of public reading space and optimizing public service supply.[Method/Process] Based on the theory of co-production, an analysis framework was constructed to influence the operational efficiency of public reading space. Taking 31 cases of public reading space in China as examples, fsQCA software was used to obtain the combination path of conditions for efficient operation of public reading space.[Result/Conclusion] The analysis results show that the efficient operation of public reading space is the result of synergy of multiple conditions, and there are five combined paths which can be further categorized into three modes for efficient operation of public reading space:the publicity-driven mode led by regular producers, the resource-driven mode led by regular producers and the cooperative supply mode of regular producers and consumer producers.
