Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] Full-text citation analysis takes the full-text data of the citing references as the research object. Revealing the characteristics of citation mode from the citation position, citation context, citation emotion and citation intensity in the citing references can deepen the understanding of the connotation of citation from the sentence level and text level, and then better assist scientific evaluation. [Method/Process] Based on the function data of in-depth analysis of enriched cited references provided by Web of Science Core Collection, this paper took 1 582 library and information sciences (LIS) papers published in 2021 with in-depth analysis module of cited references as samples, and obtained the relevant chart information and corresponding document description information quoted in the full text in batches. With the help of text analysis technologies and visualization tools, the paper analyzed citation patterns from three perspectives of citation location, context, and strength. Then it measured the interdisciplinarity of different literature sections position and functional modules based on the interdisciplinary measurement index to reveal the interdisciplinary characteristics of the targeted papers. [Result/Conclusion] The function of in-depth analysis of enriched cited references in Web of Science provides an important data basis for realizing large-scale full-text citation analysis. However, the current version still has problems such as low coverage of papers with cited reference in-depth analysis module, vague classification of citation sentiment, and lack of precise specification of citation motives; LIS is a field that attaches importance to interdisciplinary crossover and multidisciplinary integration. By exploring the citation characteristics of papers in the field and then digging into the interdisciplinary characteristics based on full-text citation information, it is of great value to enhance the understanding and cognition of LIS.
