Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] This paper aims to explore the factors and formation mechanism of users' intention to share online health rumors in the infodemic, so as to provide reference and suggestions for rumor governance in the context of crisis. [Method/Process] Based on the integrated model of S-O-R and ELM, the paper constructed a hypothesis model of the factors affecting the intentions to share online health rumors in the infodemic, which explained the dual-processing path that information stimulus drove the users' perception and then affected the sharing intention. It used questionnaires to obtain data and structural equation for hypothesis test. [Result/Conclusion] The results show that personal involvement has a negative impact on health rumor belief, and source credibility positively affect health information anxiety and health rumor belief. User perception has a positive impact on sharing intentions and plays a mediating role in the model. The e-health literacy plays a negative moderating role in personal involvement, health information anxiety, and health rumor belief. The peripheral path triggered by source credibility has a greater impact on health rumor sharing intentions, and people tend to rely more on the non-deep thinking information processing mode in the context of infodemic.
