[Purpose/Significance] This study aims to systematically sort out the evolutionary trajectory of the science and technology information resource management research in China and explore its construction and development under the digital intelligence-driven science and technology. [Method/Process] The study examined the development of the discipline from a historical perspective. Then, through analyzing academic papers, books, journals, funding situations, and academic organization and exchange activities, it elaborately discussed the rise and progress of the current science and technology information resource management discipline in China. From the dimensions of social demand and the evolution of the scientific knowledge system, it explored the necessity and feasibility of strengthening and developing the discipline. Moreover, it elucidated the key points of constructing the discipline system from the aspects of building an independent knowledge system and a practical system. [Result/Conclusion] The study finds that the development of the science and technology information resource management discipline in China benefits from its rich academic origins and practical experience. Through in-depth analysis, this study reveals the necessity and feasibility of constructing the discipline, while clearly defining the core elements of the discipline system construction. Furthermore, this paper proposes several basic strategies to guide the future development of the science and technology information resource management discipline, including strengthening the construction of an independent knowledge system and a practical system to meet the needs of the digital intelligence era, thereby promoting the further development and international competitiveness of the discipline.
