[Purpose/Significance] This paper studies how the textbook construction empowers student success by taking the Open Textbook Pilot of the U.S. Department of Education as an example. [Method/Process] Initially, the Open Textbook Pilot was systematically scanned with the online survey method. Subsequently, the practices of those completed funded projects to empower student success were analyzed by the case analysis from the perspectives of funded grantees, projects and outcomes. Finally, the implications were put forward. [Result/Conclusion] The implication for empowering student success of the new-form higher education textbook construction in China include clarifying and refining the requirements of funded projects to facilitate student success, strengthening the collaboration of funded grantees to maximize support for student success, focusing on the pivotal areas of disciplines to meet the needs of student success, and bolstering the application assessment of funded outcomes to empower student success.
