[Purpose/Significance] Exploring the constituent elements and operation mechanism of public data field is a necessary prerequisite for ensuring the orderly promotion of public data factorization. [Method/Process] Based on Bourdieu’s field theory, it constructed models of China’s public data field at different periods, explored the renewal and change of the three elements of the field, namely, actors, habits, and capital, as well as the correlation among the three elements in the field in different periods, and deconstructed and reconstructed public data field in China by using the methodology of sociology. [Result/Conclusion] The dynamics, game, diversity and complexity of China’s public data field reflect the internal driving force and operation mechanism behind the development. Numerous dilemmas and problems of China’s public data field have led to the phenomenon that public data resources cannot be supplied, flowed and used. The reconstruction of public data field reveals an urgent need to regulate the three elements of public data field in China. Continuously improving and perfecting the special regulation is important for transforming the state of public data resources from “available” to “sufficient”, from “flowing” to “flowing smoothly”, and from “used well” to “used efficiently”.
