Research on the Demands of University Students’ Future Learning Center from the Perspective of Smart Space

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] This study explores the demands of university students for future learning centers from the perspective of smart spaces, which can provide targeted services for the construction and development of future learning centers in university libraries. [Method/Process] Based on the grounded theory’s three-level coding method, semantic data were collected from university students through semi-structured in-depth interviews. This process resulted in 92 initial concepts, 22 subcategories, and 10 main categories. [Result/Conclusion] A theoretical model is constructed by integrating Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, which defines 5 spatial dimensions. Corresponding strategies for the construction of future learning centers are proposed based on these dimensions.
