Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] This study aims to identify the communication mechanisms and core elements of digital narratives in red literature. It explores the impact factors on communication effectiveness, and provides theoretical and empirical guidance for memory institutions, platforms, and creators to enhance narrative impact and manage their creative ecosystems. [Method/Process] Based on narrative structure theory, this study first constructs a communication context model and a coding framework for digital narratives of red literature. This framework comprises four key dimensions: content material, narrative agent, narrative form, and multimodal presentation. It then conducts an empirical analysis of narrative samples from the Bilibili platform. By integrating quantitative statistical analysis with qualitative text mining of user comments, it evaluates communication effectiveness across multiple dimensions and identifies the critical factors influencing it. [Result/Conclusion] The study reveals that the communication effectiveness of digital narratives of red literature is jointly driven by authoritative content, narrative expression, and interactive ecosystems, which together elicit deep engagement from audiences in cognitive construction, emotional resonance, and content co-creation. Specifically, elements such as historical archives, original design, and clearly cited sources form the foundation of knowledge-based content; factors like interrogative titles, non-linear storytelling, and cinematic editing enhance the expressive power of narratives; while series-based topics, medium-to-long videos, and platform-based interactive ecosystems strengthen audience involvement and participation.
