Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] With the rapid proliferation of AIGC technologies, disparities in users' comprehension and application abilities have become increasingly pronounced, exacerbating the digital divide. This not only undermines the user experience but also affects trust in and acceptance of AIGC technologies. Investigating the relationship between users' algorithmic literacy and the perceived credibility of AIGC is crucial for optimizing human-AI interaction experiences and reshaping trust mechanisms. [Method/Process] Based on the Heuristic-Systematic Model and the Computers as Social Actors(CASA) theory, this study incorporates social attributes such as anthropomorphic expression and empathetic perception to move beyond traditional unidimensional design approaches. It adopts an algorithmic literacy framework covering five dimensions: algorithmic knowledge, awareness, evaluation, coping, and creation. It develops a theoretical model to examine its impact on the perceived credibility of AIGC, and employs structural equation modeling for empirical analysis. [Result/Conclusion] The findings indicate that algorithmic literacy enhances users' perceived information quality, thereby promoting systematic information processing and significantly increasing perceived credibility. Conversely, it suppresses heuristic processing by diminishing perceived functional quality, consequently exerting a negative impact on perceived credibility. User characteristics such as gender and educational background do not significantly moderate these paths. Algorithmic knowledge, evaluation, and creation positively influence perceived information quality; algorithmic awareness and knowledge negatively affect perceived functional quality; while algorithmic knowledge and coping positively influence perceived AI ethics.
