Information Resource Management is currently undergoing profound transformations: from a single discipline to multidisciplinary integration, from established paradigms to technology-driven paradigms, and from traditional humanities and social sciences toward New Liberal Arts. With the continuous advancement of digital-intelligent technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, Information Resource Management is presented with significant development opportunities while simultaneously facing increasingly complex challenges. Against this backdrop, from the perspective of building an independent knowledge system, it is imperative to strengthen synergy and innovation between disciplinary development and scholarly publishing, thereby fostering a new ecosystem for the discipline of Information Resource Management.
Founded in August 1956, Library and Information Service (LIS) has witnessed seventy years of disciplinary development. LIS is a large-scale national academic journal dedicated to the first-level discipline of Information Resource Management. Over the past seven decades, the journal has remained committed to its original mission of “Integrating Theory with Practice, Promoting Academic Spirit, and Advancing Professional Development.” It has consistently upheld academic quality, strengthened scholarly dissemination, and facilitated the transformation and development of the Information Resource Management field. Renowned for its academic rigor, frontier perspective, authority, innovation, and practical relevance, LIS has earned a strong reputation and broad influence in both academic and professional communities and has received numerous awards and honors.
On the occasion of the journal’s 70th anniversary, the National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences plans to host the 2026 Forum on Information Resource Management and Publishing Communication (Online) on Saturday, August 22, 2026 (full-day event). The forum will bring together academic leaders from Information Resource Management departments and schools, distinguished experts in the field, members of the LIS Editorial Board, peer reviewers, authors, and readers to engage in discussions and exchanges on the development of the Information Resource Management discipline and its integration with publishing and communication. Scholars, researchers, practitioners, and master's and doctoral students are warmly invited to participate.
